<date>

The <date> element wraps a date for the document, which can be a string (for example, “Fall 2024”) or could be the generator element <today /> which gives the current date. The tag is authored inside the <bibinfo> element of <frontmatter>, but where the date shows up in the document depends on the conversion and document type.
